What is Ultimate?
Sunny Days, spinning Frisbees, and awesome play! Ultimate
is a fast-paced, non-contact field sport played with a disc
(Frisbee). The game is played at a variety of levels, from
friendly informal pick-up games to highly competitive college
and club tournaments. Two teams compete on a football-sized
field. Players don't run with the disc, instead they maneuver
it up and down the field by passing to their teammates. Better
than football, basketball or soccer, ultimate combines elements
of all three. As in football, teams score by reaching the
opponent's endzone. But like basketball, there's no contact.
Teams develop field strategies similar to soccer. Like all
three sports, defense is a very important part of Ultimate
play.
